DVD-RW Drive Not Working

I put in a DVD and you can hear it just spin and grind and never stops til I take it out. No programs or anything on the DVD ever appears either. Not quite sure how to go about troubleshooting this.

Is this with only one particular disc or all discs? If the latter, insert a BOOTABLE disc, make sure the optical drive is the first device in the bios boot order, and reboot. Does the system see the disc at boot?
