Help
So when people need their computers repaired they come to me and I usually reformat them, and then spend a little while downloading all the software they need to run smoothly and protect their stuff. I am trying to figure out if there is a way for me to just edit the OS image I have to include these programs so it makes reformatting that much easier. Just add in a few programs so when Windows is back up and running I won't have to sit around and spend time downloading all the random software.

Hi TexasMessiah. Welcome to BC.
I can't answer your specific question re editing the ISO disk but it sounds as though it would be a bit dicey.
I keep an 8GB flashdrive plugged into my desktop and aim all my downloads to that, then take that drive to any computer I work on. A complete working arsenal in your pocket.

I agree with Rob and Killer on this one, but would like to add on a little for you.
Each Computer is not the same configeration so will need different Drivers to run different Hardware.
In your case, using an 8g Flashdrive as a Toolbox, you could save various common Files used onto it, clearly labelled, so you only need to download once, then have the use of it on future Jobs. You can also place Anti Virus and Anti Malware Programs on it, and any others that would possibly be needed, including Service Packs.
You also can Slipstream the OS Install Disk to include Service packs. You should find what you need here.

For Windows XP I recommend nLite Windows Installation Customizer . You can create a slipstreamed custom unattended XP installation ISO/CD, include post SP3 critical updates, IE8, program add-ons, drivers, remove unneeded/unwanted components...& more. I just made an updated XP CD with all updates (except .Net), IE8, Firefox 6, Flash, Java, Dell drivers (for my old Dell laptop) themes, customized settings integrated, removed a lot of "junk" & the ISO was only 340mb.

I do the same thing as Rowal and Killer.

Doent take much time at all to install them after the OS and drivers are loaded.
