Hi

I just removed the Data Recovery spyware following the guide on this website, unfortunately before I found the guide I used CCleaner and deleted the temporary files before using unhide.exe, All my files are showing except for the desktop and start menu (when I click all programs they are all empty)
Is there anyway to restore them? System Restore? or will I have to reinstall Windows?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

In that case you'll have to restore all those items manually.
See here: http://www.smartestcomputing.us.com/topic/46010-how-to-restore-files-hiddendeleted-by-windows-recovery-virus/
Start reading "Method 2" at:

If the above does not work, then you can restore the defaults for the Start Menu and Administrative Tools as follows:

Then scroll down to "Method 3".
