When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Hello all
A week ago or so my windows xp machine (32 bit) started suffering from google redirects in firefox. I ran MalwareBytes (removed .fsharpproj) and Spybot S&D (don't recall if it removed anything). I am not suffering from redirects anymore, but my computer is very much slower than it used to be. I was browsing around (due to paranoia) and found that C:/windows/system32/rundll32.exe was 32.5 kb in size and had a page icon - there seems to be some controversy about whether this is normal. There are 3 instances of rundll32.exe running - 2 are using 4 kb and 1 40 kb of memory. I also have 8 instances of svchost - the largest is using 25 kb. Do I have anything to be concerned about, and what can i do to convince myself my machine is fine?
Thank you for any suggestions

edit - I forgot to mention that when I looked at my IE history (I don't use IE), it showed a bunch of visits to mevio.com sites, and fraud-screen.net sites.

Please download GMER from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop:
  • Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)
  • Zipped Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.

  • Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.
  • Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.
  • Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
  • Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.

  • GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)
  • If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.
  • Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.
  • Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.
  • Exit GMER and be sure to re-enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you had disabled.

IMPORTANT! If for some reason GMER refuses to run, try again.
If it still fails, try to UN-check "Devices" in right pane.
If still no joy, try to run it from Safe Mode.
