When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

If you have not received help after three days, please post a link to your topic HERE.

The problems started when I tried to update Firefox. Firefox installed, with no indication of a problem. I then went to run it and noticed that all the links and shortcuts to it had disappeared. I opened IE to download it again and found that while it goes through all the motions of downloading and installing, the Mozilla folder has nothing executable inside of it. (Yes, all of those folders are empty.)

I've also tried downloading Chrome with the same results.

I'm also finding that anything I install instantly vanishes. Though, vanishes isn't really the right word- more like was never there in the first place.
I cannot do a system restore.
I cannot delete certain files.
I can only run IE.
I cannot open many of my game files.
I have run Spybot, but my computer will not quarintine the files.

I have a hijack this log if this will help you to help me.

I know that the rule is one problem per post, but I'm pretty sure all of these problems have the same origin.

Edit: Moved topic from Vista to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Hello, sherrie, I fel with this infection that yes the HJT log is needed along with DDS and GMER if you can provide them.

This may help you see your files.
Please download the following program to your desktop:

Unhide.exe

Once the program has been downloaded, double-click on the Unhide.exe icon on your desktop and allow the program to run. This program will remove the +H, or hidden, attribute from all the files on your hard drives. If there are any files that were purposely hidden by you, you will need to hide them again after this tool is run.

Please go here....
Preparation Guide ,do steps 6 - 9.

Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9,which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.
If Gmer won't run, skip it and move on.
Don't forhet your HJT>

Let me know if that went well.
How do I get help? Who is helping me?
