Power light blinking off and on

When i turn on my computer the power light blinks off and on and the monitor does not come on. If i press one of the buttons on the monitor i get a message saying that the computer is in power save mode and press power button, mouse or any key but when i do nothing happens. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you please post the make and model number of your computer?

Can you please include a few details as to what may have caused this issue to happen?

Thanks Bruce,

The computer is a table top Dell dimension C521 Model number DCNE. As to what might have started it i am not sure. It was working good up to the last time it was used then when i tried to start it the following day that is what happened. This was about a month ago and haven't been able to get it started since then.
