<<What do you guys use for virus software. I have MS Essentials and Malwarebytes. Is that enough or should I be using more or something different?>>

IMO...MSE, Avsst, and Avira...are all reliable, as are many others. The key to any AV program consists of two steps: updating routinely and using routinely. If either is ignored, that's a lick on the user.

I would also include SUPERAntiSpyware in my installed defense mechanisms. Same rules re updating/using apply.

And, of course, a firewall. I find that the Windows firewall does the job for many users who don't want to bury themselves in detail from the firewall.

I also have Malwarebytes installed but only run it on occasion (just to ensure that it's not corrupted), wheres I run SAS and Avira routinely.

Things look better today (thanks everyone!!) however MS Essentials keeps finding the following virus
Trojan: DOS/Alureon.A
It removes it then it shows up again. Apparently it is in the master boot record?

Any tips on getting rid of this?

Thanks

just great...urghhh....I rebooted my computer and now I am back to square one. That Aurleon.a trojan is messing with me.

I see various ways to remove it none of which are the same.

Any advice?

thanks

I suggest that you start a new thread/topic in the Am I Infected Forum.

This topic has too many posts/comments to move there, it would just cloud the issues.

But I suggest that you include a link to this topic...in your new topic in Am I Infected, just as a reference point.
