trouble intalling new ram i get an error from my motherboard and i cannot boot

I decided to upgrade my memory, last time i upgraded i just put the modules in and it booted up no problem. this time i got a "c1" error from my abit ab9 motherboard. I jumped the cmos and took out the battery waited about an hour and put 1 stick in. it booted up i went to bios changed the voltage to 2.3 then i tried to put the second stick in and now it freezes on boot with a "c5" error.

my motherboard is abit ab9 and the new ram is kingston hyperx ddr2 800.

im hoping there is just some setting im missing in the bios that i can change when just 1 stick is in. then i can put in the other stick and boot up.

please let me know what im doing wrong.

UPDATE:

i kept switching the two sticks in the first slot and determined that one of them was dead. that's what i get for actually buying out of the box ram at fry's. went back and got some corsair, it was cheaper and it works fine now.
