Not sure if my graphics card or monitor is about to go. Help?

Hello there. I have Dell monitor that is kind of old (probably around 2003?) and I'm running XP. This morning when I went to login to XP, the screen started spazzing and the place where you log in didn't appear so I turned everything off and started again. The second time, the screen was still going beserk but I managed to log in. AFTER that, random lines kept flashing onto the screen for like a millisecond and the screen went dark a couple of times. Now, these random lines are still persisting but not as bad. I'm scared to turn my computer off because I don't want my computer to explode. So, any suggestions? Thanks.

It looks like your graphics card is gonna die soon. What is the model of the computer? Also do you have a spare monitor laying around?

No, unfortunately I don't have another monitor. 
And on the front of the computer it says Dell Dimension 4600. Not sure if that is the model. So you think it's the graphics card?
