BleepingComputer.com: Emachine T5246 Black screen after boot

Working on a friends T5246, after it boots and the scroll starts for Vista it goes gray and the lights on the keyboard go off, the lights on the front of the PC stay on and the fan and everything stays running. When I try to do a F8 safe mode it freezes up on the driver install. Last known configuration goes to the gray screen too. When trying to do a repair from the safe menu I get the (e-machine)E screen that says please wait and it freezes on that. I have tried to replace the memory one stick at a time and that got the computer to go to the Vista page with the scrolling on the bottom then going no further. I tried googling and nothing was out there (this time)
