BleepingComputer.com: MBAM stops 7 seconds into scan

Forum Rules

When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

If you have not received help after three days, please post a link to your topic HERE.

my wife told me a "worm" warning had popped up on the screen so she turned the unit off..i started(booted??) up system and system defender appeared, i went into safe mode with networking, and tried to run malware bytes free removal program, it started but 7 or 8 seconds into it, the window closed, when i tried to reopen, the screen said windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. you may not have the appropriated permissions to access the item...i tried to go in as admin, but do not have the pword. prior to this another site , maybe this one had a post about it and directed to start/run/devmgmt.msc...view menu...non plug and play drivers...and to look for and disable TDSSserv.sys....I found nothing close to that....i noticed in tskmgr that i now have a process running 2599737723:2217085797.exe....i have never seen this before, so i tried to close it...unable to...so i searched for it, and found 2 files in windows and deleted them, but this process is still running at 200k, under system...im thinking if i dan get mbam to stay running, it will clear the virus....i did a hijack thhis scan and savedthe results to desktop...can you help a guy out???

Hello and welcome rdag300
Use this fix, when you see a box that states “Windows cannot not access the specified device, path, or file. You may have inappropriate permissions to access the item”.

Download This File
Save it next to mbam.exe (this file is located in the Malwarebytes Anti-malware home folder). Once done, drag and drop mbam.exe into Inherit.exe. Click OK and attempt to run Malwarebytes Anti-malware once again.

Post the MBAM scan log.
The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.

Run TFC by OT (Temp File Cleaner)
Please download TFC by Old Timer and save it to your desktop.
alternate download link

Save any unsaved work. TFC will close ALL open programs including your browser!
Double-click on TFC.exe to run it. If you are using Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator.
Click the Start button to begin the cleaning process and let it run uninterrupted to completion.
Important! If TFC prompts you to reboot, please do so immediately. If not prompted, manually reboot the machine anyway to ensure a complete clean.

hello boopme, i followed your direction, draging the mbam file to the inherit file, the icon for mbam never left the original place it was, then i tried to start mbam, and the same thing occured, it ran for about 8 seconds then the window closed, and when i try to restart it, the same message came up. I was able to use the tfc program and ran it.

Hello,

Now that you have posted a log here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic416099.html you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a MRT Team member, nor should you ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show in the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the MRT Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the MRT Team members are EXTREMELY busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the MRT Team. Please do not bump your topic. Do not worry about being forgotten; we have mechanisms in place to ensure that you are not overlooked.

It may take several days to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible. I advise checking your topic once a day for responses as the e-mail notification system is unreliable.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. Good luck with your log.
