I'm new to bleepingcomputer. I'm having trouble with a computer that constantly "hangs up" requiring a reboot to get restarted. It seems to do this mostly going between Yahoo and my Yahoo mail account, although it does it other times as well. I have had the unit looked at by my local computer whizzes twice and they can't seem to find the problem. It is a Dell Dimension running Windows 98 SE. I have recently run a number of anti-spyware programs and although they kicked out some visitors, they did not touch the problem above. I get (occasionally) three messages-- Run time error 226 at 284B63B7 and Run time error 226 at 282F64CB. I also get a WIN32SillyDI.FE&ad=O message and I can't delete it with any of my programs.

Anyone have any ideas as to what I should do? Thanks

BruceG

Hi Bruceg,

Welcome to BleepingComputer...

It sounds like you have something going on with malware that the standard removers cannot handle. I googled the run time error and the Win32silly items and all suggested as much. I would suggest following our malware removal guide. Start here It contains a lot of great info. If you follow the guide and find you need to post a HijackThis log, please make sure you post to that forum as stated in the guide. One last word, please be patient with those techs. They are all volunteers are are swamped with requests for help.

I hope this helps,

Rigel
