I have an older Sony Vaio that is not wireless. I had an adapter that has worked for years but finally zapped out. I connected my PC to my Cisco router by cable, and my laptop is connected wireless.(wireless printer also) Everything works but everything has slowed down. I installed, uninstalled, re-installed, System Restored so many times I don't know how my network is configured. I ran Microsoft Network Diagnostics and it gave me this log :
