I have a Dell Inspiron 580 Desktop that originally came with Windows 7 Home Basic.
I did not care for Win 7 so I formated and installed Windows Xp Pro. Everything
seems to be good to go, except for the audio. I have no sound and in my device manager
under Other I have yellow exclamations on both of the Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
and I cannot find the drivers for them for Xp. Do you know where I could download the Xp drivers?
Here are my specs:
Dell Inspiron 580 Intel i3 Core CPU 550 @ 3.20Ghz
4 Gb DDR3 DIMM, 1TB Hard Drive
Nvidia GForce 9400GT Video
Original OS Windows 7 Home Basic 64bit
ThankYou

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Dell Support lists no sound drivers for your system & XP. They have Windows Vista & 7 only.
You might try www.driverguide.com
You will need to create an account to download anything but it is free.
Doesnt appear that Xp is supported on your system but they might have the drivers.
Worth a look.

According to Dell Link that Eyesee give. there is only Realtek ALC887 Driver so you could try to download it from Realtek Website.
You could try to download from here.
Realtek High Definition Audio Codecs
Please read Description to avoid wrong download. You need to select one from 3 server on Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003(32/64 bits) Driver only.
Hope this right driver.

I downloaded and installed Realtek ALC887 Driver and that took care of one of the
Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus driver and I have sound now. In my
device manager there is still a exclamation mark on the Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
under other. I think it might be for the HDMI port on my board. Any thoughts.
ThankYou
