License keys...are the property which is the essence of installing Windows.

It is that license...which determines whether an install is legal or illegal, valid or invalid.

Obtaining illegal licenses...is frowned upon by Microsoft...and this website.

Any person with a valid, legal copy of Windows...has a right to make copies of such. Such copies of files...do nothing without a valid license for said accumulation of files. The concept of slipstreaming Windows...updating it by adding SPs, drivers, etc...depends on recognition of the fact that files are just files and it is the license key which is the valuable property.

Oh yes, I understand. I'd never, ever, give anybody else my XP key nor any other key, ever.

I'm glad to know that the loaning of the OEM XP CD is legal, as long as each person uses his/her own valid license key. That's what I was getting at.

Thanks a lot, to all, for everything.
