Forum Rules

When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

If you have not received help after three days, please post a link to your topic HERE.

Hi all,

This is my first attempt to get some assistance on an issue that I am having with my Internet Explorer being Hijacked. As an example, I do a Google search for "Dogs", I receive a list of hits, but when I select one, I'm sent to Lycos Yellow Pages, or fast-find-answers. The details of my machine are as follows:

Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3
Internet Explorer 8 Version 8.0.6001.18702

I've updated and tried the following:

Spybot Search & Destroy
MalwareBytes Anti-Malware
AVG 2001 Free
SUPER AntiSpyware
Re-installed Internet Explorer
Reset Internet Explorer
Delete Internet Explorer History

Hello and Welcome to Bleeping Computer,
Please download MalwareBytes from here: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Malwarebytes-AntiMalware/1186760019/1 . Install MalwareBytes and make sure to update MalwareBytes. Run a Quick Scan. At the end of the scan if there is any infections make sure they all have a check next to them and press remove selected. Please copy and paste the log back here. After you post the log a Malware Removal Team Member should be along to assist you with your log.

Thanks

Now that your log is properly posted, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a Malware Removal Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the log you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer.

From this point on the Malware Removal Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean.

Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the Malware Removal Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the Malware Removal Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another MRL Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic.
