Upgrading CPU and Video Card questions

Hello, I currently have a Intel Celeron 450 cpu running @2.20GHz single core and my PC uses a G41 Chipset.

This is my pc- Inspiron 537s Slim Desktop Details | Dell

All parts I have in the PC are the stock dell parts that came with the PC. I would like to upgrade my video card to a 8600GT because I will be receiving one for free. I would also like to upgrade my CPU to a Intel Pentium E5800 Processor. I would like to know if upgrading to these would be possible. I am aware that my motherboard is Socket LGA775 and the processor I want will fit into it.
Also if there are any better or cheaper options for the processor I would gladly love to research the ones you recommend. Thanks for reading.
