When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

After I followed the removal instructions I haven't been able to get an internet connection. I tried to repair it, but it say it is trying to renew my IP address. My desktop can't connect but I still can get WiFi on my phone. Any help would be appreciated.

By the way I've tried to do a system restore and it won't let me do one.

Hi -
Have you done the basic check -
>Must be Internet Explorer > (Across the top) Tools > (Bottom Item) Internet Options > (Across the top) Content > LAN Settings >
Make sure the only box ticked is the top one - Automatically detect settings -
Always a quick first check -

This should have been mentioned in your Malware removal thread first - - - -
As you left the thread with Noviciate and did not mention any problems then , I would PM him or a Moderater to reopen your topic in Malware area -
This may or may not be related to the problem, but I would ask there first -

Check for a proxy set up by the malware?

Tools/Internet Options/Connections...click LAN Settings button. Select Automatically Detect...make sure that there are no other boxes on that tab checked...click OK.

Please...post exactly what your repair efforts were...and indicate exactly at what point...and content...of any onscreen error message.

"No internet connection" just isn't very informative.

Does Device Manager reflect the NIC as being properly installed?

Did you try uninstalling it, then reinstalling it?

Does Event Viewer reflect errors pertaining to your connectability? If so, double-click on that line item and post the detail for such.

Did you try a different browser, in case it's a browser issue?

If this is a wireless connection...you may want to look at Some Google Links

Please see the date on the thread before you decide to give more work to Noviciate.
As I believe this problem could say not related to malware removal thread as it over a half year ago been closed.

A few days ago I got a virus that said my computer was desktop was infected, it was a fake xp security screen that wanted me to run a scan. I ran rkill and the malwarebytes, then rebooted system. The avast AntiVirus sent an error message that my web shield was turned off, so I tried to turn on firewall and I got a message (Windows firewall settings cannot be displayed because associated service is not running . Do you want to start the Windows firewall/internet connection sharing (ICE) service?) and then I says window cannot start the Windows firewall/internet connection. My network connection say acquiring network address. My deskstop doesn't have a connection but I get a WiFi signal from my router to other devices. Will not let me do system restore . Event viewer error says (the network location awareness services depend on the following nonexistent service:afd). I don't know if I corrupted a file when ran the malwarebytes. Will a factory restore setting work.
