New Graphics Card Which to choose?

Hey guys, Im thinking of buying a new graphics card, I currently own the Nvidia 8800 GT, its been with me for about 2 years now, so i think its time for an upgrade. It served me well, never a lack of power from it, my question is:

I have a budge of around $250-$300, and I would like the new Graphics card to serve me as the 8800 GT did. Any opinions on this?

All the past graphic cards ive bought were Nvidia, i have no problem switching over to ATI if its better. Im quite a gamer as well, not just casual.

Any opinions would be appreciated, thanks! :thumbup2:

Well, how about sharing your system specifications to start with?

Cards like the ATI HD6950 or the Nvidia GTX560, need good computing power (CPU/MEMORY) to work their best. If not, you're going to experience some bottlenecking.

You also need to consider how spacious your PC case is, the motherboard's capability of accommodating the card (slots) and how beefy your Power Supply is.

For instance, the HD6950 requires a 500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express power connectors.

Ideally, if you have a good enough system, this card would be a good buy for $300.

You usually need 6pin+8pin PCI-E Power. I have 2 Asus 6950 myself running in Crossfire and i am using a 750W power supply.

as for my PC specs:

1) Intel DG31PR Motherboard
2) Intel Core i5 750 2.66 Ghz
2) Kingston 2x2 GB 1333 Mhz Ram
3) 8800 GT Nvidia
4) 2 TB Hdd
5) Standard Enlight ATX case
6) Thermaltake 600W PSU
7) Windows 7 Ultimate

I don't know about the spacing issue, the 8800 GT isn't a small card, Ill check out the dimensions of the cards you guys suggested and let you know.

Are you sure that is the right motherboard model? That board is a LGA775 and the i5-750 is LGA1156.

This will get the specs of your computer.
