Hello Everyone,
Microsoft Support sent me here - amazing, really, and it only took them five months to suggest it. So many resources - including the list of programs best to uninstall. You can't ask the Net about these things - my attempt to do that didn't turn out so well. I like this site that teaches those who haven't been to school for IT. Wonderful! Thanks to the Founders.

Hi there QuickRead, welcome to Bleeping Computer! I notice you're already receiving advice.

There's also helpful general information in the New User Orientation forum.
Pleased to have been a Microsoft MVP (Windows Desktop Experience) 2007/8, 2008/9

I pressed F5, and I'm feeling refreshed...

The more you look around BC, the more useful information you will find, and our goal is to make this as non-geek as is possible (given the inherent geekiness of computing). This general goal extends to individual help in the forums as well.
Thanks for joining!

John
