Dell E5400 Docking issues

Have a Dell E5400 laptop with some odd issues when using docking station. when undocked, starts rebooting then gets stuck at the start up splash screen. Have to do cold boot a couple of times to work. Also when redocked, external monitor goes black and laptop goes into hybernation mode.

First, run chkdsk/f if you see disk errors. Update the BIOS (A16) and the chipset / video drivers which were updated on Dell's website in May. That solved it for me (using Windows XP.)
