I have a basic knowledge of computers but I am very interested in gaining a more in depth knowledge of how to use, maintain and repair them. I really hate the idea that everytime I have an issue all I know how to do is come here and make a post and hope that someone has the answer. So is there some resource or the likes that I can simply read and have a basic knowledge of where to start when diagnosing an issue?

This is a pretty good book for Windows 7 trouble shooting http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780735645202/ . It covers the basics and gets in to the more advanced repairs and even talks about hardware diagnosing. Worth a look through.
