Have you tried getting the driver directly from Acer's website for your particular model of lap top?
Also what do the audio settings say in the BIOS?

Acer's website contains all the drivers for your computer to download. Also the BIOS can affect the audio in windows. If the BIOS is set for a certain audio level regardless of what Windows is set to it will not change. I can help you as best as i can since I am not there, if you are unwilling to try the advise given to you then I do not know what to tell you. This is the process of troubleshooting something remotely without being there physically. Unfortunately, I cannot be in multiple places at any given time or day. I wished I could, but I cannot. The drivers for your audio card can be specifically modified by Acer to work only with your audio card. Also if I could drive to New Jersey, then I would, but again I cannot.
