I just built a new rig (not OC'ed) a couple of days ago and everything works fine except it won't restart. When I try to restart my PC, it starts to shutdown, but it doesn't POST. My PC is still on and my monitor goes off and says no signal. I have to hard-shutdown. I have run HD Tune Pro (error scan) and Memtest86+ (10 passes) and there were no errors. Here are my specs:

GIGABYTE GA-990XA-UD3 AM3+ AMD 990X
AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
SAPPHIRE FleX 100314FLEX Radeon HD 6870 1GB
SeaSonic X750 Gold 750W
ASUS DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS Black SATA 24X DVD Burner
Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive
Noctua NH-D14 120mm & 140mm SSO CPU Cooler

If somebody could shed some light on my situation, I'd be much obliged.

Check for any BIOS updates at Gigabyte and apply it. Your issue could be a BIOS that isnt up to par with Windows.

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

Thanks for the reply cryptodan. I forgot to mention, everything is updated including drivers and BIOS. I'm also running Windows 7 Ultimate (x64).

I have my mouse and printer plugged into the back USB ports. I don't know if it's a big deal or not, but I just noticed when I go to restart or shutdown the Steam icon appears on my taskbar.

Unplug the Printer, and see if that makes a difference. If it doesn't then close then Steam as it has been known to be unstable.

Unplugged both the mouse and printer and that didn't fix it.

Download Autoruns for Windows: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb963902.aspx

No installation required.

Simply unzip Autoruns.zip file, and double click on autoruns.exe file to run the program.

Go File>Save, and save it as AutoRuns.txt file to know location.

You must select Text from drop-down menu as a file type:

Attach the file to your next reply.

Lets start by doing this:

"HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run" "" "" ""
+ "StartCCC" "Catalyst® Control Center Launcher" "Advanced Micro Devices, Inc." "c:\program files (x86)\ati technologies\ati.ace\core-static\clistart.exe"
+ "STCAgent" "Splashtop Connect IE Agent." "Splashtop Inc." "c:\program files (x86)\splashtop\splashtop connect ie\stcagent.exe"
+ "SunJavaUpdateSched" "Java™ Update Scheduler" "Sun Microsystems, Inc." "c:\program files (x86)\common files\java\java update\jusched.exe"
+ "VirtualCloneDrive" "Virtual CloneDrive Daemon" "Elaborate Bytes AG" "c:\program files (x86)\elaborate bytes\virtualclonedrive\vcddaemon.exe"
+ "ZyngaGamesAgent" "Splashtop Connect ZyngaGames Agent." "Splashtop Inc." "c:\program files (x86)\splashtop\splashtop connect\zyngagamesagent.exe"

Uncheck those in Auto Runs

Also Uninstall Utorrent.

Do you use MS Groove?
