When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Hi Everyone: Recently my computer is slowing to a crawl. I saw a TV ad called "Clean My PC" and purchased it.
This program ran a diagnostic and stated I have serious Malware and Virus's on my hard drive.
I use Avast Free download virus protection on my computer.
This Avast program has a "box" or "chest" which shows various infections over the years. This anti virus program has alerted and blocked many problem over the years.
I used "Clean my PC program which cleans my "registry" files and problems. It also recommended I BUY AN ADDITIONAL SERVICE FOR $179.00 SO THAT I CAN COMPLETELY REMOVE ALL THE MALWARE, VIRUS'S AND SPY STUFF FROM MY HARD DRIVE! The additional costs give me protection for only 30 days. Then for additional sum I can have "removal service?" for up to a year. To me this is outrageous !

The "Clean my PC" telemarketing tells me that the cost is fair since taking all of my malware, viruses, spy whatever takes specialists many hours. IS THIS TRUE ???

My question: Is there a program that can remove all of the Virus infections, Malware infections, Spy infections PERMANENTLY from my hard drive? Remove stuff permanently versus putting in a "locker" where it remains on my hard drive?
Also, will this removal of bugs, speed up my computer AFTER Permanent REMOVAL OF THIS STUFF ON MY HARD DRIVE?
Can I buy one program and simply use it over and over again and let it run and do it's job by PERMANENTLY REMOVING my bugs from my hard drive?

How I use my computer: Daily emails, read the news, and one "On-line" Christian ministry service. I don't play video games and other stuff. I don't download super fancy stuff or have skype, fax, phone on the internet, yada-yada.

In your answers to me, please speak in terms that are simple, no abbreviations, and assume I do not know anything beyond "login and logout". If you would be so kind, please give me simple steps as to how to locate and execute these solutions? Feel free to copy my statements and then post your answers after each question mark punctuation.

Thank you or your replies,
MrCoffeeCup

I've never heard of "Clean My PC" but it sounds like a scam to me.

Let's have a look at your computer and see what we can find:

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.

Malwarebytes may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.

  • Make sure you are connected to the Internet and double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to this Guide.
  • When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
  • Malwarebytes will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.
  • If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button and continue.
  • If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.

  • Under the Scanner tab, make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
  • Click on the Scan button.
  • When finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
  • Click OK to close the message box, then click the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
  • Make sure that everything is checked and then click Remove Selected.
  • When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad.
  • The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab.
  • Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows the database version and your operating system.
  • Exit Malwarebytes when done.

Note: If Malwarebytes encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally will prevent Malwarebytes from removing all the malware.
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
