When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Hi,
I recently recieved a computer and would like to "clean" it as much as possible.
It is an HP laptop with Windows 7 [SP1], intel core i5 @ 2.4GHz, 64-bit Operating System, 4GB RAM.
I would like to have a little more insight as to why so many exe files are running upon startup and what these files are doing (helping or hurting?). Below, there is a list of some of these. I really appreciate any help you can offer.
------------
Task Manager --> Processes

Image Name Description File Location

pmmUpdate.exe PMM Update Application C:\Program Files (x86)\EgisTec IPS

csrss.exe [blank] C:\Windows\System32

InstStub.exe Norton Internet Security C:\Program Files (x86)\NortonInstaller\{0C55C096-0F1D-4F28-AAA2-85EF591126E7}\NIS\A5E82D02\18.0.0.128

igfxtray.exe igfxTray Module C:\Windows\System32

igfxpers.exe persistence module C:\Windows\System32

sttray64.exe IDT PC Audio C:\Program Files\IDT\WDM

AmIcoSinglun64.exe Single LUNIcon Utility for VID 058F PID 6366 C:\Program Files (x86)\AmIcoSingLun
-------------------
I may find more.
Thank you in advance.

Well you have Norton Installer which is Anti-Virus, Intel Graphic Tools to make changing resolution easier, csrss is a critical system file and service, sstray is probably sound card stuff, and the other 2 I do not know.

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.
