Help
Hi
I hope someone can help. I got the XP Antivirus 2012 bug last night and FINALLY was able to run malware in safe mode. Looks like I got rid of the bug, but now when I go to my programs, they either won't open or I get a screen asking which program to open them in.
While fooling around hitting F8 I also opened in normal mode and last working progress.
Anyone know how to fix this now?? Obviously, I am not great at fixing computers!!

Please download FixExe.reg and save it to your Desktop.
If you cannot use the Internet or download the file to the infected machine, try downloading from another computer (family member, friend, library, etc) with an Internet connection. Save to a flash (usb, pen, thumb, jump) drive or CD, transfer to the infected machine.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Scanning with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware in safe or normal mode will work but removal functions are not as powerful in safe mode. Why? Malwarebytes is designed to be at full power when malware is running so safe mode is not necessary when using it. In fact, Malwarebytes loses some effectiveness for detection & removal when used in safe mode because the program includes a special driver which does not work in safe mode. Further, scanning in safe mode prevents some types of malware from running so it may be missed during the detection process. For optimal removal, normal mode is recommended so it does not limit the abilities of Malwarebytes but sometimes there is no alternative but to do a safe mode scan. If that is the case, after completing a safe mode scan, reboot normally, update the database definitions through the program's interface (preferable method) and try rescanning again.
- Double-click on that file to run.
Vista/Windows 7 users right-click and select Run As Administrator. - Choose "Yes" when prompted to add it into the registry.
- Once that is completed you should be able to run other programs.
