weird temperatures hd radeon 5770

i have a dell studio xps 7100 with a hd radeon 5770 that i believe is idling high in temperature, around 44 degrees Celsius. i have the latest drivers. plus In the control center I've overridden the core clock to 500 (the lowest setting)and set the fan speed to 50%. also i downloaded gpu-z and it states that my gpu has 0-2% load on it while idling. I get severe graphics lag in games like mmo's and team fortress 2. fps below 20. and when i game the temperature rises to the high 60s Celsius. i have windows 7 home premium and a phenom 2 1075t cpu. i've attached a pic ture of the gpu-z screen hope it helps. i have no idea what to do, any help is much appreciated. if you need more info i can supply it.

You should increase your fan speed to 75% and see if the temperature is lower. Also have you consider cleaning out the GPU fan?

You can increase the fan speed in catalyst.

thanks it's now down to 38 degrees Celsius (idle) and around 50 when i play games

hi 60s isnt bad for that card under load, however, if you dont mind the noise from the increased fan speed, 50 is much better. If the fan noise bothers you, you may try adding strategically placed case fans.
