BleepingComputer.com: Hello from a newbie with problems

Hi, just a quick introduction. I'm a medium to low-level computer guy, probably will frustrate some of the guys here with my lack of knowledge, but glad to be here.

I have a small service-oriented business, and I'm really my only employee--I have two laptops in my "business," and one desktop. I'm a 51-year old Alabama resident, to give you a little background. In addition, I have five children, three of whom have laptops, and issues with those laptops from time to time. They look to me as the computer "guru," which is embarrassing--for them. Actually my 19-year old son is better than I am, and has handled his own issues, but his twin sister, and older sister (age 22) look to me for help.

I will be introducing two separate issues--I may have an old laptop dying, and my daughter's one-year old laptop is having issues as well. Won't discuss them here, but just to let ya know what's coming.
