I cannot find anywhere how to launch the game or software menu by using the autorun.inf which should auto launch the autorun.exe that is also located on the disk. When a disk is inserted, shouldn't the computer read the autorun.inf and then launch the autorun.exe? Everywhere I look, all I see talks about music or video disks. I cannot find anything about running the files to start a install process when the disk is first inserted.

I uploaded the autorun.inf (in zip format) for the game Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition. It is copied straight from the disk and zipped. It doesn't do anything when I put the disk into the drive.

The following link reflects a registry edit...although the edit may be routine/safe, any user should always backup the registry before attempting such. A good tool for backing up the registry is ERUNT Registry Backup Tool - http://www.snapfiles.com/get/erunt.html .

I am not endorsing this edit by any means, just providing it as one of the seeming solutions for users with autrun disabled.

2 internal and 2 external drives suddenly stopped working, (Autoplay). The contents of the disks were only visible in Windows Explorer.

This file from Microsoft fixed everything for me - now they all autoplay / autorun.

Worth a shot - Autoplay Repair Wizard

Supported Operating Systems: Windows Server 2003, Windows XP.

I have the autofix.exe file from microsoft already and it doesn't fix the issue that I am having. I've ran it on every optical drive already.
