When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

I am a new technician with a job in repair and malware removal. I really like the tools I find here at Bleeping Computer and use them daily. I want to sign up for the training, so this is a post to get me started. One of my initial questions is, how do I get ComboFix to scan an external drive. I often find that I have to remove a drive from the computer and scan it down using one of my desktops. When all else fails and I need complete removal, I try combofix. But I have to replace the drive and run the tool in the original computer. That can be tricky when all I'm trying to do is recover files that the customer needs and the original OS is inoperable. Combo Fix and Unhide can make this possible. If anyone has other ideas for data recovery from dead or badly infected computers, I am all ears.
