When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Hello. This will most certainly be my first post. I do apologize in advance for spelling errors and the like, I was actually hit by a car a few days ago, so it seems my luck has been just wonderful as of late. I don't know if being hit had anything to do with my problem, as my computer was in my backpack, but I am hoping that is not the case.

Yesterday, my computer started randomly shutting down when I would use certain programs. So, I went through and started a scan of Avast! Anti-virus, and Spybot: S&D to which both programs would freeze the computer completely. Even tried running them in safe mode, and got the same problem. They would scan, and at some point would stop completely in their tracks.

A friend recommended picking up Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, so I downloaded that upon his recommendation, and found that the same issue had taken hold. A few times, when the computer would reboot, it would put me into the CHKDSK toggle, and I ran it to fix the errors. Yet there are still problems.

Any help would be just wonderful.

My computer is a Gateway Netbook with Windows XP and 150gb hard drive.

It sounds like you messed up your laptop. I would get some diagnostic programs to test the hardware, especially the HDD. I think the HDD is messed up because it locks up when it starts rooting through a bunch of files. I do not think it is a virus though...

I've asked a mod to move this to the appropriate forum. Please wait for a malware specialist to respond.

It stopped running CHKDSK, but is still running into the problems with the virus scan and the kind. My computer will either blue screen, or will freeze up and not show any activity. Friends I speak with on yahoo chat however do not see me go offline.
