I just bought a new build quad core with out a hard drive. I got a hard dive installed and the unit powered up and windows 7 loaded. The system worked fine until it lost power. Trying to re boot it, the power came on as I touched the power button and the fan engaged but then stopped. I moved a few wires coming from the power supply and the unit started again, staying on for about 30 mins and then shut off again by itself. The same thing happened trying to start the unit, touching the power button it tries to start but shuts back off immeadiatly.

What you should do is reseat everything and see how it goes. It also could be a power supply problem.

I tried unseating and reseating all the wires I could, and, I thought that fixed the problem, because I did find one wire that seemed loose. After I reseated it the system fired back up. It worked for about 24 hours and I noticed it had shut off once but I wasnt on it. It also rebooted then. Then, I left it on last night and this morning it is doing the same thing. Power initally engages and then shuts off.
The person I bought it from on ebay said that everything in the system is brand new. They system is a little dated so I dont know how long it has been sitting like this. But everything does seem new as he stated.

This is a brand new Quad Core pc with 2 gigs of ram that I bought as a kit! It is fully assembled but it does needs a Hard drive. I plugged an old hard drive in to verify that it works properly and it does. It also comes with a factory Windows 7 disc. 64 bit.

Work slowed down so I wanted to try to build computers and sell them on the side. Now work has picked back up and I don't have time for it. I'm starting the bidding cheap! This retails for a lot more than I'm trying to get out of it. I can guarantee functionality of the pc once you get a hard drive for it but I can't do exchanges or returns. Just no time for it.

At this point, i am suspecting the power supply and the one you have is one of those really cheap ones. But it also could be overheating. So can you download HW Monitor and take screenshot of it and post it?

ok i got the system back for a while and i was able to take some screen shots using the HW Monitor software, but i dont know how to go about posting them.
Can you give me directions?

I followed the instructions but the screen shots are too blury in an image file. I had pasted them into a rtf text file and the system went down. Do you have an email addy I can just attach the text docs to and send it?

killerx is probably right about it being the PSU (Power Supply). My experience with Diablotek products hasn't been that good to be honest. There is a reason they're usually 10%-20% cheaper in the cost of their PSU's and GPU's. The only other cause could or should be CPU overheating. If any of the HW monitoring programs don't narrow it down I would first check the CPU to insure the thermal paste on it was uniform and not dried out like cake. If that checks out then I would go with the PSU. Not sure of your budget or what cooling you have but if it's a stock heatsink I would consider at least a better quality heatsink for your CPU at some point with heatpipes and a quality fan. Preferably 2 (push/pull configuration) but again depends on your budget.
