Actually, I didn't use Subzero's suggestion. I was able to find a Disk Defragmenter in Control Panel --> Admin Tools --> Computer Management. Also, I ran the TFC tool, which cleared about 60MBs.

After reassessing my situation, it seems like everything is back to normal. As long as there isn't any issue with the large svchost.exe or having another explorer.exe open when I open a folder from my Task Bar, I'll say that my issues have been corrected.

My last question is should I use the Windows XP repair utility, just in case?

No, don't use it as a just in case fasion.

I don't think you need that level of repair. As long as you leave those svchost.exe processes alone.

Keep en eye on your CPU usage with the task manager. Run your computer for a while and check the CPU again later on.

It shouldn't be spiking up to 100% unless you're really asking your CPU to work hard...i.e. watching HD videos, or running several programs at once.

If it stays around 100% all the time, it's probably overheating so be sure to let us know if that happens!!

As long as those conditions are not met, I think you're good to go! :thumbup2:

Run the Checkdisk utility just one last time, and as long as there are no other problems with your machine, you should be fine.

Otherwise, it's been a pleasure working with you! You've done great, and I thank you for allowing me to help you!

In the future, please let us know of any problems you may be experiencing on yours or another machine!

Best of regards,

Thanks for your help. I ran CHKDSK one last time, and I'm assuming you don't need to see the log.

I appreciate your help!! Thanks again!!!

If there are any other inconsistencies with the disk, then post it...otherwise no worries! :thumbup2:
