When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

Hi Everyone,

I'm new here, and not sure I'm posting in the right area. I've got this XP Security 2012 virus on my computer which won't let me log onto the internet, and basically won't let me do anything. I can't click on any icons, put anything in the search engine...can't do NOTHING!

Does anyone know how to possibly get rid of this? I would really appreciate anyone's help...

Thank You for your time :)

Thanks for replying Broni. I've been to that link, and have no Luck with anything. I've also tried in Safe Mode...I've tried using a flash drive since my notebook doesn't have room for a CD player, and I'm not sure what to do with the flash drive?

I've now also all of my icons on my Notebook! This just isn't my day! I need HELP please!

Thanks

Did you use good computer to download FixNCR.reg?
Then you need to copy the above file to USB flash drive.

Quote

Once that file is downloaded and saved on a removable devices, insert the removable device into the infected computer and open the folder the drive letter associated with it. You should now see the FixNCR.reg file that you had downloaded onto it. Double-click on the FixNCR.reg file to fix the Registry on your infected computer. You should now be able to run your normal executable programs and can proceed to the next step.

At what point are you having problems?

Select safe mode with network
Press start

Thanks you guys I really appreciate your help!

I was able to download the FixNCR to the computer with the 2012 virus, and it seems to be working fine again, except for a few things I need to tweak...but my Notebook now has only IE, Recycle bin, and My Computer on it's desktop, and I don't know what happened to the other icons. Also I don't have any programs showing, when I go to the programs arrow. I know I downloaded Combofix...I know, bad...to try to fix something, and didn't realize something got wiped out in the process.

I've tried downloading Malwarebytes, and it keeps telling Access is Denied, so I don't know what to do short of a system restore!

What do you guys think?

I can't believe I'm "lucky" enough to have 2 computers get messed up at the same time! Never happened as long as I've used computers!

Thanks for any reply...and have a nice 4th :)

System restore won't cure any infection.

Download Malwarebytes on good computer and transfer it to bad computer using USB flash drive.
