It is very possible that your laptop has one of either of these two jacks.

With the above jack, the normal defective portion is the very back pin will overheat in the motherboard and will "burn" the solder out of the joint. If this is the case, the jack must be completely removed from the board and the back PIN solder point must be cleaned.

With this jack, the very back center pin will also overheat and burn, but most likely will burn in half leaving the solder point in the motherboard still intact and will only need to have the remnants of the pin removed along with the solder.

Neither of these jobs is simple or easy for a novice. If these must be replaced and you are not sure of your soldering skills or you are not sure of your susceptibility to static discharge, please take your laptop to a qualified shop for replacement.
