Sometimes you wonder how many service packs and updates are released for an MS product on average, during the span of its lifetime...

Well, XP stopped at SP3 (in 2008). End of life (EOL) is April 2014: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/products/lifecycle

Vista has SP2, but I doubt we'll see an SP3 for it.

Not sure of the highest service pack Microsoft has ever done. After SP3, one would think a new version is in order.

I think the highest service pack was SP4 which was for Windows 2000.
