When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

I'm working on a client's laptop that is running Windows 7 9(64 bit) and it is giving me the fits. The laptop is able to connect to windows update and update and IE is allowing me to surf. All this via the wireless. When I connect the ethernet cable, the laptop sees the connection for a moment and then drops the connection. I have tried to install and update various malware/spyware removal programs, but i'm not able to update them though i do have a wireless connection on the network.

I tried a few online scanners with no luck. the only one that was able to work was Microsoft's safety scanner. I was also able to download A-squared emergency kit and run that. Although the laptop would not allow me to update it, I put it on a thumb drive and updated it on another pc and then copied it over to the laptop and run it then. It found a few minor trogans, but nothing too serious that i have come across in the years.

I have taking the hard drive out and installed on another machine and scanned with Norton 360, Avast, Super AntiSpyware, MalwareBytes, and Spybot. Those only found one or two items, and when the drive is placed back in the machine it is still doing the same thing. Nothing is able to update while the comp is running.

I have also tried the Bootable Bit Defender and it keeps shutting down when it tries to update via the wireless.

Any ideas?

thanks,
tent
