In my original post, I stated that I was hearing sound bytes while streaming music. The best way I can describe it is that it sounded like a bubble popping. It wasn't very loud, so I wasn't sure at first if I was actually hearing it. I heard it while listening to various radio station to ensure that it didn't have anything to do with the particular station, web site, I was listening to.

I did not hear the sound byte while listening to music stored on my own computer or at any other time while using my PC.

Last week, I rebooted my computer. Windows installed some updates before shutting down, (Not abnormal) But, at startup, I received a message that 11,882 updates were being applied and then that windows was being configured.

What I have done since hearing the sound byte.

After I began hearing the sound byte and numerous failures of Avast, Malwarebytes and Super Anti Spyware to find and remove the problem, I downloaded and installed Kasperski Internet Security. I used it for 2 years and never had any problems with malware, so I went back to it. After installing, it detected and disinfected several malware installations. Several days after re-installing Kasperski, I quit hearing the popping bubble sound.

Since re-installing Kasperski, Malwarebytes, SAS have not found anything other than a false positive for RKill, which I have also run the most current version of several times with nothing being detected.

I installed and ran
  • Dr Web, which found no infections
  • CC Cleaner, ran windows and application cleaners, deleted internet cookies and caches, history, etc.

As of today, I not have experienced any problems, other than Windows being a bit slower than usual. For this, I followed all the recommendations in the thread addressing slow computers and browsers. I am also not hearing the sound byte any longer since some Windows updates were recently installed.

If not for the 11,882 updates installed on my computer last week, I probably wouldn't worry about anything. But given the excessive updates that installed, and the fact that they were installed at start up rather than shut down still has me concerned. I would very much appreciate someone looking at logs I have posted to in this link and the DDS attachment.

Requested Information

Malware bytes and SAS does not find anything, so I do have any logs to post.

I am running a 64 bit version of Windows 7, and there for cannot run the root kit utility.
