Greetings All!

I have a hardware question about my Toshiba Laptop Satellite L505-ES5018.
It running Windows 7 and is 14 months old.

I like to listen to my favorite radio station from my home town on the internet.

Some time ago I bought an IPod docking station, not to use with an IPod, but to amplify the sound output of the Tosh which has tiny speakers. The IPod docking station has an active amp and I plugged it into the headphone outlet of the Tosh.
So I thought it would be no additional load on the tosh, as opposed to hooking up 4 speakers in series and plugging them into a headphone jack of a transistor radio as I did when I was 12. This did work well for 3 - 4 months.

Then one day I was using the Tosh and the screen went black. I restarted it and began frantically backing up files on a CD. When I went to back up music files I got a message saying that some component of Windows 7 relating to music wasn't working and did I want to go to MS website and down load it. I went there and MS said that it was an integral part of Windows 7.

Long story short, (too late?) the sound card smoked! My question: was it a coinsidence or was the IPod amp too much of a load after all? I hope to figure this out before I get the Tosh repaired and then I'll know wether to amp it or not...
