I am just a member, not any type of adviser here so take my comments for what they are.
I have used McAfee on my previous desktop and on my new Dell. On my old computer it did stop the worst parts ( not all ) of a vundo infection.
I read a review that said the McAfee default firewall setting lets too much get by. On the old computer and the new one I set mine to monitored, just below stealth. Be sure to check the setting occasionally because after one update it had reset itself to the default setting.
I have the free version of Malwarebytes and have not had conflicts with McAfee. Recently during an update Malwarebytes offered a free trial of, I assume, the full version. I accepted the offer. It updated the database automatically everyday. After two weeks it seems the trial ended, (No notice given). Now I get an error notice once a day.( Error 2).
Based on the stored logs I am assuming it is attempting to check for updates but gets stopped because the trial license key is no longer valid.
I also have Dell datasafe online backup on the new computer. On the date that I started the free Malwarebytes full trial Dell datasafe stopped doing automatic back-ups. It has been working screwy ever since.
My intention is to get MBAM-Clean and remove Malwarebytes from the system to see if this corrects things. The free version of Malwarebytes played nice with Dell datasafe online from mid April until I started the free full version trial on June 1.
