Hopefully im posting in the correct forum.
I just got done installing a new hard drive in a vostro 1500 that had been charging and holding a 3 hour charge fine. 4 days later after a few day i am told( the the friend i fixed it for) that the battery isnt charging and it wont turn on.
i got it back and hit the power button, it starts to load, sits at the dell boot screen for a bit but then loads up no problem.
Curious, i take it home, 45 minutes later i plug it in and get a blue light on right side, steady blue blink, i open the lid an power it up, starts POST the i get an error:
system battery low, press f1 to continue , so i do, hit F2 get into bios , battery health indicates working properly it boots and it loads windows.
I notice here the the blinking blue light is now switching back and forth from blue to amber.
The battery indicator in tray indicates very low battery charge :to clarify, the unit is plugged in.( adapter is less than 6 months old and is correct for unit with a steady green light on brick).
I power it down to reboot, blue blinking light, power up and it juices for a second or two then just turns itself off, steady blue blinking light(turns amber for a second ot two when trying to power up).
I am going to take the battery up to batteries plus and have them check it out, i have come across many post that say the battery may still be good, but there is a chip that "turns off" but i wondered if this could have anything to do with a bad BIOS battery.
Is there a reset for the battery? ( i saw mention of a reset/test button for laptop batteries, but there is nothing close to a button near the battery (even if i take the battery out that i can tell) i see a set of what seems to be indicator lights on the battery, what are they for ?
The unit will not power up at all with the battery out if it is plugged in.
thoughts?
Thanks

Took the unit up to batteries plus, battery was fine, asked them to test the charger...
Bingo, the output was .2 volts, tried a charger they had and it worked with no issue.
6 month old charger is being replaced by the seller on amazon.
