I have a Toshiba Satellite L670-ST2N01 I got in December, and it runs Windows 7. I currently have a paid subscription to Panda AND I have Malwarebytes. I got a fake pop-up claiming to be some Adobe programming wanting to make changes to my system. I just clicked the X button and went to get out of what I was doing. I looked up and there it was again, only my Malwarebytes and Firefox icons had vanished off my desktop. I tried to run MWB through different means and EVERY PROGRAM in my Start menu was gone. White void. Nothing. I moused over All Programs and there was nothing. I then looked up and my desktop icons had all vanished. I couldn't access any antivirus so I panicked and shut the computer off (this all happened within about one minute) to try and go into Safe Mode. Now the ONLY thing it will load is the black screen with a white blinking cursor, and then the Windows Memory Diagnostic when I push F2 or F8, which stops at either 99% or 21% and never finishes. I can't even enter Safe Mode (I've tried all the F keys.). I'm on my boyfriend's computer since I can't access jack on mine. Thank you for any information at all that you can provide!

Hi Smidge,

Welcome to Bleeping Computer.

In order to restore and disinfect the computer we need at least to be able to get to Advanced Boot Options. Please try to restart a couple of times and use F8 if you can get there And inform me if you can't.
