When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

I'm a 'newby' here. I've got a friend, that has a Compaq Presario V5000 Laptop with XP home on it. Yesterday, when he tryied to start windows, windows stalled at the logon site and an error..."lsass.exe Application error" oxc0000005 pops up and when you click on 'ok' the error disappears, but the computer won't go any further. I 'googled' this error and see it's a virus.. I've tried going into safe mode, safe mode networking, or and all the other options, when I hit the F8 key when the laptop is booting up. I can't get pass this error message. Without wiping out this laptop and reinstalling everything (he didn't backup anything on it) is there a way to get this virus off? Please go into detail with info. Thanks, and I hope to 'visit' this site often!
