I would be very grateful if someone could help me with a sick computer. I've done so much, but I'm struggling as to what to do next and whether the virus is still active. I came here because your Preparation Guide for Use is so well set out and easily followed. Thank you.
Phil

Please note I will be away from a computer Friday 17 June until Monday morning 20 June.

This is what has happened so far. Sorry about the long saga.

My wife was surfing the internet, computer went slow then locked up. Next time re-booted and the various fake warnings of a computer problem came up.
The last entry in the Mozilla Firefox history was:
C:/Documents%20and%settings/phil.D7KWLQ1J.001/Application%Data/MozillaFirefox/Profiles/1xp9ln1l.default/GoogleToolbarData/components/suggest_window.html

No desktop items, task bar items missing, many program files missing, slow computer.
I displayed contents of system folders and hidden files, etc. The vast majority of the folders and files are semi-transparent.

Free Malabytes already installed, but would not let me update. Ran scan with database 6545. Found in Application Data: nochangingwallpaper, disabletaskmgr (x2). No log for this.

Mcafee alreday installed. Scan and found: FakeAlert!grb in All User/Applicationdata files 17293093 and 17293093r. No log for this.

Tried both again in Safe Mode
Copied across Mcafee Stinger. Scan - nothing
Copied across Trend Micro Fake Virus Remover. Scan - 2 Registry items found
