We'll come back to the recovery console at the end. Let's complete the fix

I'd like us to scan your machine with ESET OnlineScan
  • Hold down Control and click on the following link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
    ESET OnlineScan
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
    • Click on Posted Image to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
    • Double click on the Posted Image icon on your desktop.

  • Check Posted Image
  • Click the Posted Image button.
  • Accept any security warnings from your browser.
  • Under scan settings, check Posted Image and check Remove found threats
  • Click Advanced settings and select the following:
    • Scan potentially unwanted applications
    • Scan for potentially unsafe applications
    • Enable Anti-Stealth technology

  • ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
  • When the scan completes, push Posted Image
  • Push Posted Image, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
  • Push the Posted Image button.
  • Push Posted Image

If no log is generated that means nothing was found. Please let me know if this happens.

Hi,

I have not had a reply from you for 3 days. Can you please tell me if you still need help with your computer as I am unable to help other members with their problems while I have your topic still open. The time taken between posts can also change the situation with your PC making it more difficult to help you.

If you like you can PM me.

Thanks,

m0le

The fix is complete. Now, the recovery console problem...

You need to go to My Computer/Tools/Folder Options/View tab and uncheck "Use simple file sharing" for some options to be visible.

Now you should be able to take ownership of the folder by right clicking it and selecting Properties. Select the Security Tab and click the Advanced button. You'll see an Owner tab so add your User Name to the list

Hi,

After engaging this function for file sharing, I was able to delete the cmldr file. I checked the owners list bot the administrator and myself are present. So I reengaged my user name, However, when I click the "cmdcons" folder, this time it tried to delete it but then I get a message "cannot delete 1394bus.57_: access denied"

Ayee vee

Okay, try this.

Download and install Unlocker

Navigate to the file/folder you need to remove

Then right click and select Unlocker. If this deletes it then you are done. If it is locked then a list will apppear. Just click Unlock All.

Let me know if that's successful.
