Music in email?

A friend of mine is trying to find a way to have music of his choice play when someone opens an email from him. He uses AOL mail, and I haven't been able to find anything by Googling - is it possible to do without getting too complicated?

So he wants a Read Receipt that plays a sound? It's a nice idea, but I don't think you can do that. Could be wrong, though.

Thanks for the reply, I just re-read my post and I see it is not clear - I apologize for that. Let me try to be more clear..... he wants to "imbed" ( or whatever the correct terminology is ) an audio file in email he sends so that that when the recipient opens it the audio file will play automatically .

Ohhhh...my bad, I misunderstood.

Yes, that is possible.

How does he read his email? Is it webmail (mail.aol.com), the AOL software, or some other email client?

I took a peek back, and he tried doing it with Foxmail.All I got in my Thunderbird and Yahoo emails that he sent as a test were clickable links to listen to the audio. The emails I send him go to AOL.com. I know very little about this topic, so I hope my replies aren't too choppy.

EDIT - BTW, cool signature ( PICNIC ), may I "steal" it?

Sorry, looks like it only works with Outlook from what I've seen.

Good old Outlook Express allows you to embed sound in emails by using Format / Background / Sound.

When I get round to changing to Thunderbird or some such program, I would hope that such capability exists.

Might not be worth sending them to recipients on a dialup connection and there seem to be a lot of those still.
