Their are so many brands out their so before I tell the purpose and budget of the Laptop

i wish to clear a few doubts


Laptops from hp,dell,lenovo are costly

and few other are`nt

I may be wrong but msi,asus laptops are not really popular in india

I wish to know if laptops from Acer are the same as those from hp etc in terms of quality..


Does paying for a hp,dell,lenovo really means better performance good config laptop??




Also,

What are the things I should know before purchasing a laptop?

should I take at the battery performance

Should it have a USB 3.o,a large screen


Also does a dolby surround say that the lappy has some good speakers??




My Choice for a new lappy is the Lenovo Ideapad Z570


acer,toshiba well for some reason I feel though they are cheap and have good config won`t be as good as lenovo or hp.

Can someone clarify if the big brands actually offer something better then the lesser known ones?




The usage of the lappy will be browsing stocks

and listening to music at the same time


occasionally/rarely burning dvds and watching movies.


Is going in for lappy with USB 3.0 a smart choice?

Acer's laptop quality isn't that good compared to Toshiba. HP/Compaq has problems that you might run into like monitor problem, overheating etc. Generally some laptop brands have good and bad models.

I strongly recommend against HP laptops. I have had very few good experiences with them, including a housemate's that had to be sent for repairs 4 times within the first year for the same monitor problem.

My experience with Acer is for the price they're decent machines... the 4 year old laptop outlasted the HP laptop I mentioned above by several more years, and was a fraction of the price. If your looking at comparable Toshiba and Acer machines, Toshiba may be your stronger bet however. Also getting replacement parts for anything by Acer can be a super hassle. Its not as bad for laptops as it is for desktops, but they don't really have a supported store if you go through their site, instead you end up getting a list of links that sometimes go to sites that you're not always sure of. On the other hand, once you have the part numbers you can broaden your search to other sources.

Lenovo (IBM) has a reputation for fantastic support & repair. I haven't done too much with Lenovo laptops but have had good experience with their desktops.

Dells also seem to have pretty decent life. My Dell laptop is my portable desktop, which is good because I use it for gaming, is probably about 6 years old now, and doing splendidly.

If you're going for really good sound quality the best is likely to come through an external speaker set up. But regardless of what sort of sound comes out of the laptop try and ascertain where the speakers are on the laptop. There are quite a few that put the speakers where you will end up at least partially muting them while you type (if you touch type, I believe hunt and peck avoids that issue since your wrists/forearms are not resting on the machine).

And has good the best performance award From chip Magazine


The z570 has a 1 Gb Graphics card from nvidia this don`t

Will the absence be a huge impact as The lappy won`t be used for gaming

any user suggestion

According to this, it has 1GB of video ram. I would buy that model because it has the new Sandy Bridge processor.

The info given in magazine suggests

that the lappy has a Core i3-2410M
3Gb Ram 600Gb HDD

Intel HD graphics





Hmmmmmmmmm....



If you were to buy a laptop in the range of INR Rs 35000 to 40000

which one would you go for??


Will be fine fine with USb 2.0 ports??

That Lenovo seems to be very suitable for your use actually. MSI makes some ok laptops but usb 3.0 isn't really a big feature in my opinion. In the future when a lot of products uses usb 3.0, you could buy those express card with the usb 3.0 ports for the laptop. Having a look at the MSI laptop specs, i would go with MSI although i have never used a MSI laptop before so i'm not sure about there quality.

so,Is this a good deal or a deal to good to be true???

Me too thought the same seems to good at just INR Rs 39900 with taxes

the MSI lappy was also reviewed by the magazine but did not get best performance due to price,

and well the lenovo doing well in "real world tests"

Saw another model with graphics card the shopkeeper says performance is better than one with no graphics card.


I am aware that onboard graphics is shared memory with ram

and a discrete graphics card offer more performance

but won`t it affect the lappy`s battery life

will a lappy with onboard have longer battery life ??

Or is the battery designed specifically?

The onboard graphics will save more power then the dedicated graphics. Didn't you say, your not going to use it for gaming?
