When posting your problem, do not run and post a ComboFix log. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.

To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

DTinSL the best way to get your all programs list to show properly is run a program called "RogueKiller" (http://majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=6983&file=1&evp=7f25e183fa99a2b65f4c1321d7e9b19f) I forgot which option either 3 or 4 actually fixes the attributes that are hiding your all programs list.

Boopme both links are not working for some reason maybe my corporate firewall. I will try again when I get home.

jdbaker82 thanks I found the files and manually put them back in the correct location. I'll book mark RogueKiller if I ever encounter this again.

I ran another scan last last night from ESET online scanner, with Microsoft Security Essentials turned off. And only one virus showed up this time in the one and only system restore point that was made years ago. It cleaned it out and I was able to turn off system restore with out getting an error then I was also able to turn it back on. So now the System restore is working again. If no more virus's or maleware is detected I am pretty sure this thread can be closed out.

Thank you Boopme for you help and guidance along the way.

When you say you found the files what are you talking about specifically? I was under the impression you were talking about when you click on Start/All Programs all of the folders in that list showed as empty? Is this not what you meant? If it was how did you manually restore those?

Which means I want to advise you,if they don't like you accessing certain areas you may get a visit from the boss.

Start System Restore from a command prompt

Boopme - Got it thanks.

JDBaker82 - I was referring to Start/All Programs all of the folders in that list showed as empty. How did you manually restore those? I found the files listed in a temp file and there is another topic on the forums here on where to put those to get them back in the correct location. The files had been moved to c:\windows\temp\smtemp\1, c:\windows\temp\smtemp\2 and c:\windows\temp\smtemp\4
I'll find the topic and post it here.
