Hi, I went through a bout of Windows Vista recovery about 2 weeks ago. I called MS Security Essentials, and their Phone tech helped me through using RKill, and then guided me to a free scan(Pareto) and all seemed well. I figured out on my own to do a system restore at a point earlier than the first hit of windows vista recovery, which got my desktop icons and backround back. I then used this site's tutorial on showing hidden files in order to get my "documents" back. HOWEVER,... I cannot get my Internet Explorer Links back. The links bar is there, and if I go to manually add previous websites to it, I get a message that it already exists. Is there a way to to unhide these? Thank You!
P.S.- My start menu remained blank until I started using the programs again, and then it is gradually refilling. This effect is not that important to me, but my internet links which I collected over the years are.
